Executive Director

Catherine McCall
JD (Osgoode Hall)

Catherine was named as Executive Director as of July 1, 2018. Prior to that she was Director of Policy Development at CCGG for five years. As Executive Director, Catherine is responsible, together with the Board of Directors, for setting the strategy of the organization and leading the development of the annual operational plan to achieve CCGG’s mission and to build CCGG’s profile. She also has lead responsibility for policy development and coordinating research and participates in the CCGG board engagement program. Prior to joining CCGG, she was a principal at Hugessen Consulting, an independent executive compensation firm working with compensation committees and boards, and head of their corporate governance practice. Catherine has worked as a Vice-President and director of ISS Canada Corp. and as a partner with Fairvest Corporation, ISS Canada’s predecessor firm. Catherine began her career practicing law with Davies Ward & Beck in Toronto. She has written and spoken widely on issues of corporate governance and executive compensation. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and received the ICD.D designation in 2017. Catherine is also a member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Continuous Disclosure Advisory Committee and designated as the Canadian country co-correspondent for the International Corporate Governance Network, where she also represents CCGG on the Global Network of Investor Associations.

Director of Board Engagement & Head of Research

Tony D'Onofrio

Tony began working with the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG) in 2010.  He is responsible for leading CCGG’s board engagement efforts and he regularly meets with the directors of leading public companies to discuss governance matters on behalf of Canada’s largest institutional investors.  He is also responsible for overseeing CCGG’s research efforts, which include publications on Governance Best Practices, Executive and Director Compensation practices. 

Prior to his involvement with CCGG, Tony gained extensive advisory and capital markets expertise over a 20 year career in finance and investment banking with TD Bank Financial Group.  He has been a guest speaker on governance matters and shareholder engagement for a number of professional organizations including Lexpert, the CICA, the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries and The Directors College. 

Tony holds a Masters in Business Administration (Schulich School) and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and received the ICD.D designation in 2016.  He is also a faculty member of The Directors College.  He currently serves on the board of St. Joseph’s Health Centre (Toronto) and the Canadian Administrator of VRS (CAV), Inc.

Ali Abid
M.B.A. (Concordia)

Ali joined CCGG in August of 2013. He completed his MBA (gold medalist) from the John Molson School of Business in 2013 and has passed all three levels of the CFA Program.

Anna-Kay Russell
MPP (Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy)

Anna-Kay joined CCGG in October of 2018 as a Research Associate. Her main areas of focus at CCGG include engagement research and communications. She is also an active member of several CCGG member committees.

Anna-Kay brings with her a diverse skillset in research and policy analysis, having previously worked for the Ontario Ministry of Indigenous Affairs, Natural Resources Canada and on various SSCHRC-funded research projects at York University and the University of Toronto. She holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of Toronto, and an iBA in Environmental Studies and Psychology from Glendon College, York University.



Administration Coordinator

Ana Marshall

Ana is the Administrative Coordinator of CCGG, where she ensures the daily operations run smoothly. Since she joined the organization in September 2018, she maintains the Financial and Banking administration, Office Logistics and Board Engagement Administration. Ana also updates the content for CCGG website.

Ana spent most of her career in the Mining, Engineering and Construction Industry where she held roles as a Contract Administrator and Office Administrator. She spent most of her career working for Barrick Gold Corporation where she was part of the key team responsible for the engagement of the external services to execute major projects.

Ana posses a background in Business Administration and a certification in Personnel Management from Universidad Adolfo Ibanez in Chile, also Contract Management certifications from Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile and Mount Royal University in Calgary.

Beyond that, Ana enjoys cooking for family and friends.
