2010 Governance Gavel Awards Announced
The Canadian Coalition for Good Governance is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 Governance Gavel Awards. The awards were presented at the 12th Annual Corporate Governance Conference hosted by the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries August 23, 2010 in Lake Louise, Alberta.

CCGG Governance Gavel Awards were created in 2005 to recognize excellence in shareholder communications by large issuers through their annual proxy circulars focusing on executive compensation disclosure and the communication of director qualifications and board practices. As governance practices have evolved and shareholder engagement has become a cornerstone of good governance, CCGG expanded the awards in 2010 to recognize excellence in shareholder engagement.
2010 Annual General Meeting
The AGM will be held on September 15, 2010. The AGM will be followed by a public meeting where we will be joined by Ira Millstein.

NEW CCGG Staff
Director of Issuer Research
Tony D’Onofrio is the new Director of Issuer Research. Tony has an MBA and is a CFA charterholder. He joins us after a career in investment banking where he worked with Canadian public companies on a range of strategic, financial and investor relations initiatives.
Tony’s responsibilities include expanding and improving our proxy review and board engagement processes and overseeing the work of our Research Analyst, Daniel Curren. He will also develop and refine CCGG’s annual “best practices” documents, oversee the Governance Gavel Award process, and analyze the Rotman governance research. Manager of Communications
Elif McDonald has joined CCGG as Manager of Communications. Elif has a Bachelors degree in Economics and has completed the CSC. She has a wealth of communications experience in the financial services sector, including managing the communications for a company providing board compensation governance services and overseeing the review, approval and publishing of U.S., Canadian and Emerging Markets equity research reports for large broker/dealers.
